Tea Time

This is my evening. I got sick Saturday and despite sleeping Sunday away I'm still sick. Having worked  40+ hours already probably has something to do with it.

As I drink my tea I'm sitting in this lovely chair. I've known for quite sometime that I want two chairs in our front window instead of the love-seat/hide-a-bed we currently have there. it's quite convenient to have the bed when people stay but far more often we have get togethers and bible studies and realistically only one person sits in it. two chairs just makes more sense. That being said, chairs are expensive! We ruled out new from the get go- but used isn't much better- well at least in the city we live in. We walked into Salvation Army last weekend and found two that fit the bill for size and price. Both 40% off! we went with the bigger of the two, which was actually cheaper at $45 with the discount. It's so comfy! we've currently got it covered with an old duvet cover so the ugly flowers aren't staring at us.

David has been acquiring tools over the last year or so, a couple of which are a nail gun and air compressor so we've decided to take on reupholstering it ourselves. we'll probably be living with it as is for a while though because even with a 50% off coupon fabric is going to be a pretty penny. Still way cheaper then new and we'll get the look/color we want but we're currently saving for this

Our Disney cruise to the Bahamas. We paid off the cruise itself last week and bought our plane tickets months ago, but now we're saving for  the miscellaneous extra (fun) stuff. It's quite a financial success for us to have paid for all of this cash- no credit.
It's always eye opening to me what we can accomplish when we set goals, stick to budget and work together.

Saturday Morning Coffee

As I write this I'm watching Masterchef with my hubby. We watch it together every summer, quite fun.  It's our first free Saturday in weeks and is already filling up. How does that always happen?

There's quilting at church today,  I want to go but that would involve productivity. or something. I do have a pillow I started a couple weeks ago at a quilting group. I went with my mother and sister in-law to theirs and it's the same ladies I quilt with at retreat every January. It was quite nice to see them all again before 2015.

This week has been a blur. Final week of AWANA for the school year. work and now I can't even think of what else. work mostly.

Found out I have some unexpected time off in a few weeks and I'm planning out how I want to use the time. I think I want to finally get the bedroom under control. I've done little since that last post. Did I ever post a picture of my headboard? it's a door! I more or less know what I want to do in there, and have most of what I need to accomplish it, it's just a matter of doing.

what about you? Any fun projects this summer? this weekend?

Planning...

Our vacation for September. It's our first real vacation, like ever. 5 night Disney Cruise to the Bahamas. Excited doesn't even begin to describe it. Really though I don't know what I'm more excited about-the fact that we're going or the fact that we've made it part of our budget, are putting money aside and paying cash for the entire thing. After I went last year with one of my BFF's  I came home and told David we had to go on one together. By September I had him talked into it.

Financial Planning...

We took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University through our church 4 years ago and loved it. It's been a bumpy road but we're finally seeing some progress on our debt snowball and it feels so good. It's amazing how a little progress can fuel so much motivation

Trust and Brokenness

I've missed blogging, really.

but as the year progressed it just got easier not to write. I had excuses, time mostly, but really they were just excuses. what it boiled down to is I know I needed to make this place more then just about the crafty things I do, the meals I plan and the occasional adventure.I needed to be more transparent.

as many before me have written-it is so easy to write only the good things going on and not the tough things also.

2013 was hard, really hard. nothing catastrophic happened, but emotionally i was a mess-went into 2014 a mess-still a mess. I've finally remembered to press into God. Trying to do so, day by day. minute by minute.second by second.

I think it had alot to do with turning 30.

Not particularly old, quite young still but I was no where that I thought I would be. The big glaring one- not being a mom. Something I've always wanted to be.I thought I would be done having babies by 30, not still hoping and praying.

Something I still don't know how to have the balance of talking about and not rambling about. Sharing my story, my pain and not vomiting it all over anyone and everyone.

Mostly though I've spent the last year heart broken- alternating between ignoring God and whinging to Him about it. Quiet cries of Why? Loud cries of why? Anger, depression, lies to myself that I'm ok with where I'm at, that I believe in Gods perfect timing and I just need to be patient. (something I really do believe, but in this case was just trying to talk myself into believing rather then actually believing.)

Brokenness.

and that's what it's about, going to the feet of God-broken and seeking Him wholeheartedly. Trusting Him with your hopes and dreams and not being angry to my father for saying no. It's not your timing, my timing.

It's not about the physical and medical aspects of not being pregnant. yes, that's a component but its trust. Trust that whether or not I someday become a mom- naturally or otherwise- He has a plan for me and I need to genuinely and diligently seek that. Trust that He has my best interest heart. Trust that He sees the whole picture and I'm only seeing a very small part of it.

That I need not stomp my foot like a petulant child not getting their way.

Trust.

Such a small word with such big ramifications.

I'm learning, despite myself  what it means.

late night ramblings

I have no idea how I'm up this late.
I'm doing some finishing touches on cards I'm making for a Christmas boutique I'm part of on Saturday.

In the process of getting ready for that and the tea part preceding the boutique my apartment has exploded.

I was hoping to get the cards done tonight so I have tomorrow to prep how I'm going to display everything and clean.

I don't know that's going to happen considering my husband will be up in an hour and it's raining and I need snuggles. it makes sense in my head.

I turn 30 in 12 days. yep.

It's almost Christmas!!!

Saturday Morning Coffee

a coffee mug always does the job

My Husband is at a bible study and I'm supposed to be babysitting. Because of the rain though it's been canceled (the dad was going to a tai chi class)

Instead I am savoring my coffee and the relative quiet of my apartment (the neighbors as always are stomping around)

We went on an amazing date last night. Tried one of the last of 2 restaurants in our neighborhood that we haven't been to. Gialina's, it has amazing pizza and their menu changes daily, we like that. We had a pizza with Gorgonzola,Bacon and Yukon gold potatoes, yum! Then on to our favorite cafe for some coffee so I could stay up late because we went and saw The Hunger Games. First time we'e gone and seen a movie on opening weekend in a really long time. We even got there super early to ensure good seats, so worth it. I greatly enjoyed it, I just keep having to remind myself the little details don't matter and it will never be as good as the book. (that sounds like a bad review, I promise it's not)

I think I shall now go put on Pandora, open the curtains to the beautiful rainy day and do some cleaning.

I also need to find my birth certificate. It's not lost, I just can't remember what box it's in. I really really really need to get my passport.

Or maybe I'll read some more of the book I'm currently reading

Decisions, decisions.

This and That

I have the bestest husband. He's cooked dinner twice this week without even being asked, just because he know's I'm tired. He also bought us tickets to see Beauty and the Beast in 3D. I could care less about the 3D part but love the old(er) Disney movies and anytime they come back to theaters I have to see them. Anyone else go see the little mermaid when it was theaters a while back? (That one is my favorite Disney movie of all time)

I love my job, I really do. But a nearly 2 year old who cries all.the.time. just because she doesn't get her way gets old real quick. I think it's because of the holidays and being on vacation but little miss sassy pants has been particularly sassy this week and I already wish it were Friday at 5:01.
Here are my new shoes. They make me beyond happy. A little girl at church has them and I just had to find them. They're Tom's and the most comfortable shoes I've bought in a long time. I wore them today with my new polka dot sweater my MIL gave me. The combo made smile , if it weren't for those, and the beautiful weather we're having I probably would have been a lot crankier today.

ok this is long enough. Good Night.

I hate making phone calls/leaving voice mail/recruiting. I've recently taken on something that involves both. the particular project I've taken on involves ALOT more than just that but I'm totally fine with all of it, but those three  things. I just need to build a bridge and get over it.

lazy day

Today is my first day of vacation and so far it's been pretty nice.

woke up with a near migraine but it's gotten much better. Mini Doctor Who marathon, couch nap and made some yummy puff pastry goodies.

goat cheese and fig jam=delicious

now off to a new fabric store to spend some Christmas money that's burning a hole in my pocket.

Tomorrow will be slight more productive, time to finally unpack our luggage from Christmas and break out the quilt top to the baby quilt I've been working on.

It's quite nice to have some down time with nothing really important pressing.

I also need to get some of my 2012 goals down on paper, they've been rumbling around my head and I need to solidify them before Sunday.
