Saturday Morning Coffee

The coffee is brewing as I write this, my wonderful hubby is making pancakes, and the Disney station is on Pandora. yay for a nice lazy Saturday morning.

Double yay for the 3 day weekend. Anyone have anything going on this weekend? My mom was supposed to come but now she's having some car troubles so it doesn't look like it.

Now that leaves me with, what to do this weekend? There's a big celebration for the birthday of the Golden Gate Bridge, 75 years young. It's kinda of tempting to go to that, but I know it's going to be a zoo.

My BFF is having a baby, is 3 days late as I type this. I have a quilt top started, maybe I should finish?

So far I have started cleaning, only to get side tracked by rearranging furniture.

I think now it's time to go eat breakfast, finish my rearranging/cleaning and then figure it out.

Quilt for a Cause

Want to win this quilt? Keep reading to find out how!

This summer I have an opportunity to go to Guayaquil,Ecuador with my church Glad Tidings San Francisco to help build classrooms.

We will be partnering with a church and school in Guayaquil called Centro Cristiano. It is currently serving 7,000 of the half a million children that can't go to school because of the extreme poverty. We will be building classrooms to provide education for an additional 4,000 children.

As a church we need to raise $50,000 for the building of the classrooms. I personally need to raise $2,500 to cover my travel expsenses and help contribute to the over all fund to help these children get an education.

to raise money for this cause, I have made this quilt and am raffling it off. For every $20 donated your name will get put in twice to  win this. The drawing will take place on Saturday June 16th.

Money can be donated here http://lilacbarries.chipin.com/classrooms-for-guayaquil-ecuador it is safe and secure through paypal. Or click the link directly in the top right corner. Questions? I can be reached directly at lilacbarries@gmail.com.

Any amount is greatly appreciated as well as any and all prayers for the raising of funds, safety as we travel and work in Guayaquil and for the children who will be blessed with an education.Thank you for the consideration and if you have any questions feel free to contact
me.

Saturday Ramblings

I got a lovely postcard from a family friend yesterday in response to this post. It's so nice to hear that people actually read the ramblings of my brain. She gave me a couple of book suggestions that I'll have to see if they're available as I'm in need of a new book.

As an update I finished The Shoemaker's Wife. So good, an amazing love story. I'm about halfway through Organized simplicity. I'm greatly enjoying that as well and I hope I can get it finished as it's due on Tuesday and I can't renew it.

I've been working on this quilt to raise funds for Ecuador. I'm basically done with the top, still debating whether or not to add a border. I want to get the top finished and ideally get the back done and get it basted. Gotta love 50% off coupons from Joanns for the batting and thread.

Ok time to get my act together and get some housework done so I can do some more quilting.

Book Worm

I  read alot. Always have. Most of the time these days my reading gets done on the bus, or during nap time at work.

Most of what I read is fiction but there are also some books I've been wanting to read that are non fiction. This year I have a goal of being more intentional with my time and want to watch less television (such a time suck). So I thought it would be fun to have a weekly blog of what I'm currently reading.

Fiction

I just started this today and it's huge! (496 pages) which is good for me because I have a tendency to inhale books like my life depends on it. I get sucked in so easily. I've read almost everything written by the author and have love them all. If only she would finally put out the final book in the Valentine trilogy.

Non-Fiction

Organized Simplicity-The clutter free approach to intentional living by Tsh Oxenreider. This book keeps popping up for me in various places and finally I remembered to see if the library had it. I just go this today and just by reading the intro I think i'm going to like it. First impression is it's Dave Ramsey meets The Home Experience

I've recently rediscovered the public library. I've had a love affair with the library most of my life, I don't know how I could have forgotten about it. It helps that I have branches close to home as well as work. I can request books and pick them up when I'm there for story time. That makes me happy. Plus it totally help me stay on budget (assuming I return things on time!).

Anyone have any suggestions on books to read? I love historical fiction and Christian Romances. I'm open though, I had no intention of reading the Hunger Games trilogy but did and loved them! so sometimes I'm surprised by going outside my comfort zone
