Afternoon tea

I have a migraine. it hit half way through an interview, not fun. Now there's all kinds of maintenance commotion going on in my building and all i want to do is curl up under the covers and sleep, just not in the cards.

So I made myself a cup of tea, in a pretty tea cup because that always makes things better. I found this tea cup at good will a few months ago. I was looking for tea cups for the ladies in a small group I was leading and found this one for myself. I wish I had a whole set of them. it's just happy.

I was planning on tackling my fear of quilting today. that sounds funny, i'm a quilter with a fear of quilting. My issue is I've only done it 2 or 3 times and it's been a really long time since I've done it. I basted my table topper and in theory its ready to go. I need to go to Joann's to get some thread though , I don't have the right color thread.

I also had a moment of indecision on how I even wanted to quilt it. Do i go quilt based off the front or the back? I ended up taking a 6 inch square ruler I have and just randomly did the front. I just need to go at it, and practice will make perfect.right? right.

  1. ah, yes... the tea cup! That happens to be Corelle's "Spring Blossom" design. Pyrex had a similar line of mixing bowls called "Crazy Daisies" or "Spring Blossom Green" (in two different scales).

Soooo .. if you want more of the Corelle set, you know now what name to look for! :-)

As far as the quilt goes ... I understand the "being paralyzed" feeling. But, you just gotta jump in and do it. It's not an heirloom you are creating. It's not the Bayeaux Tapestry. It's a quilt for being *used* and *loved*, so do the best that you can at the level of skill that you now possess. That's all that anyone (or yourself!) can ask of you. Do your best.

Good luck with the Corelle and the quilt. :-)

  2. Sigh....you make me want a cup of tea. I too love that cup, I believe we had some that were similar growing up.
As for the migraines, if memory serves you have been getting them for a long time, I am so sorry. They are no fun at all. :(

  3. Mama- yes, migraines for quite some time. Now that i know what causes them I don't get them nearly as often, but sometimes because I don't they are more intense. meh.

Shelley- Thank you for knowing the pattern/maker, it makes me unbelievably happy to have that information on hand! Thanks for the motivation as well, I made it to Joann's after all and I started quilting away :-)
