Saturday Morning Coffee

It's been a pretty busy week. By the time my husband picked me up from work yesterday, we were like when have we seen each other this week?

We got home and we knew we wanted to do something but not sure what. We ended up watching Downton Abbey because it's due back at the library today. On a side note sometimes I don't know why I keep watching that show. Some of the characters drive me crazy. Mainly O'brien and Thomas.

Any hoo around 8:30 I got a bee in my bonnet and remembered this place I had heard about. I printed up the directions and said lets go.

My dear husband kept asking where we were going. I finally told him a bar.

A bar? A bar? what Kind of bar he asks? A loud crazy one with alcohol and loud music? A sports bar? an espresso bar?

The Ice Cream Bar is where we ended up. It's a modern take on an old fashion soda fountain. We had an ice cream sundae and a soda called:

THE VALENTINA

Strawberries, rosewood and rosemary extracts, pineapple syrup, cream, lactart, soda

They were both delicious and I'm glad we went.

Today is chalked full of things to do. A graduation party, errands, a car wash and dinner and games with some new friends.

Saturday Morning Coffee

I woke up at 6:13 on my day off, whats up with that?

I thought I had to be somewhere today and turns out
that I don't, so I actually get to relax. I do babysit tonight, the little girl I used to to take care of full time. she's 3 1/2 and I'm getting there an hour before bedtime so it should be relatively easy.

I got a new phone, a palm centro. I used to have one before I got my stupid kin. My husband was able to import all my old photos and there's a bunch from when I was taking care of snicklefritz and sassafras, I miss my babies.

As I'm drinking my coffee we're watching Thor. It's the  only movie from the lead ups to the Avengers I haven't seen. Of course when we saw the Avengers there were  plot points I was totally confused on.

Next week is the last week of AWANA for the school year and I'm planning a party, they're going to get certificates and a ice cream sundae party. It's going to be fun! for the puggles (2-3) and cubbies (4-5) I'm making rice crispy treats in fun shapes.

Ok off to pay attention to the movie, hope everyone has a great weekend.

Book Worm

I just finished reading this book. Another I picked up off the recommendation of the same person who told me about The Language of Flowers.

I enjoyed this one just as much as the first. A great tale of finding redemption and love. I've never read anything by Margot Livesey before but I may check her out again.

Between both books I now want to learn more about flowers and birds.  Neither subjects I've thought much about before but now I'm intrigued. I picked up a couple of flower guides at the library I hope to peruse. One of them is wild flowers of the bay area. It would be neat to go out one Saturday and look for some. My grandmother used to have some bird books, she loved learning about the birds that came to her feeders. She even knew what bird seed to buy to get the birds she wanted. I wonder what happened to those.

Now I'm I need another book. Anyone have any suggestions?

Really I need to listen to the Spanish CD I picked up for my trip next month. I was one of those wonderfully smart people who took french. I  maybe know a dozen Spanish words, a few more would be nice.

Saturday Morning Coffee

It seems the only time I have to write on here anymore is Saturday Morning.

This has been a very long week. Good and lots of God,but long. I have quilt class at 10, so it's not quite over.

I finished reading This book yesterday. So good! unbeknownst to me it takes place in San Francisco, added bonus! One of the places the character goes to alot is the flower market in SF, I have to walk by there everyday on my way to work. It makes me smile. I picked this one up on the recommendation of a friend (thanks Nancy!) and I'm so glad I did.

See the pretty quilt in the top corner of my blog? that's being raffled off this month to raise money for Ecuador. I am going there next month (Next Month!!!)to help build classrooms for kids who would otherwise not be able to get an education. I personally need to raise$2,500 to pay for my travel costs as well as help out with the building fund to pay for supplies. Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Ok time to go shower and get my sewing stuff ready for class. Hope everyone has a happy sunshiny day!
